Both people independently complete the 20-item Mini-IPIP, a public-domain Big Five personality questionnaire. These answers are separate from guessing the quiz maker’s answers.
We reverse-score negatively keyed items and average four answers per trait on a 1–5 scale. Emotional sensitivity represents the inventory’s neuroticism dimension; higher scores mean more reported mood changes and emotional reactivity, not a diagnosis. Intellect / imagination describes self-reported interest in ideas and imagination, not an IQ score.
Our custom similarity score is 100 × (1 − the mean absolute difference between the five trait averages ÷ 4). Equal profiles score 100; maximally different profiles score 0. The score is not a validated compatibility test, relationship forecast, or measure of either person’s worth. Similarity is only one conversation starter; differences can complement each other.
Participation is optional. Each person agrees to share the five trait scores and comparison with the other person. Raw questionnaire answers and email addresses are never shown in the public quiz. Makers can disable comparisons from their private results page. Previously emailed comparisons cannot be recalled.
